The Academy of Dance Newsletter June 2010 There are many accounts outstanding in the studio. June is still due for those who are not paid up one month in advance, and all shoes and tights should be paid for before picking up your photo orders. DVD orders forms DVD’S of the recital will again be available for $20 each. Please see the studio for DVD order forms. The competition DVD is also available at this time. Early registration Early registration has begun. Registration and the 1010/2011 schedule are attached. This year we are offering a very lovely free t-shirt for early registration. It is from the “Life is Good” company. These are very limited and are not for sale. Summer Camp The Academy of Dance Dance Camp July 5th-9th 2010 Come join our experienced teaching staff and sample a variety of dance forms we offer including: Irish Step Hip Hop Ballet Flamenco Tap This is an ideal time to try out different forms of dance. Camp runs from 9am-12pm, and will include a morning of dance and art. This is an ideal time to try out the different forms of dance we offer. $95 for the week. Rehearsal The rehearsal will take place on Friday June 18th starting at 3pm sharp. Please make sure you are there early to find your dressing room. The first half act dancers should be seated in the auditorium at 3pm. For the first placement rehearsal, no costumes are necessary. For the full run-through following directly after the placement rehearsal, full costumes including proper shoes and tights should be worn. Please note only the first half of the program needs to be there at 3pm. If you are only dancing in the second half, you need to be only be there at 5:30pm. I will post in the studio and at the auditorium where your changing rooms are. Please put your things in the changing rooms and proceed to the auditorium. We will run/place each number, then once all the numbers for the first half have been placed, we run the entire first half. We will then rehearse the finale, and then run it. This is basically a walk on for each group, where they receive their medals or for students in their 3rd and 5th years their trophies. Every student is awarded a medal. Please do not ask to be excused or leave early from the rehearsal. It is very unfair on the rest of the group. No eating or drinking of any kind in the auditorium. You are welcome to bring food and drink and eat anywhere but the auditorium. They are very strict about this. Recital The recital will take place at the Biddeford Middle School auditorium on Saturday June 19th 2010 at 2pm. All students should arrive one hour before and locate their dressing room. Please note that students should not be running around in their costumes, a robe or some kind of cover up should be worn over the costume. Students are welcome to watch the recital with their families. Please make sure they are at the backstage door two numbers before their own.
